If you set the Gauntlets the Goblin, he would need two capabilities that says it can not untap during the untap step. Because of the ability to pay Goblin (2) during your interview (this is after you untap step), you may untap Goblin during the interview. Step release and maintenance are two different stages, so you are able to continue to pay (2) during your interview in order to free the goblin. Pros Remove the first phase, and maintenance, then draw, etc..
